We are the Morgans. Ed (me) and my wife Helen have a small farm just East of Cincinnati, Ohio.
I have raised all kinds of animals from chickens to cows and horses. Moving from one type of critter to another . I 've been raising Boers since around 1997 It all started like this.
A neighbor of mine stopped in one day and asked if I would like a couple of goats. They were Toggenburg mixed and having not been bred they were pretty good size. Well right there the idea hit me "Why not try raising large goats"
At the next Swap in Lucasville I was there looking for goats that might turn out to be large breeders for my venture.
One guy had a whole trailer full of goats a few Alpines, a lot of Nubians and a lot of crosses. He and another man were talking about Boers. (I remember thinking they were talking about hogs at first) Finally I asked what were Boers.
And my life took a big turn! I started asking everybody about Boers. This was in the mid
'90 s' and not too many people around here had any idea what I was talking about.
Finally after hearing about the 560 pound males and the $20,000 price tags and how hardy these goats were, I took my first trip to Texas. I did not find any of those monster goats and since getting into the Boer goat business I have discovered they really aren't that hardy compared to the goats that have been around here for generations.
But I did find out I really liked these goats. For the most part they are gentle and seem to have their own personalities. I really like these goats, but can't keep all of them. So I am creating this web site to try to reach as many people as I can to try to sell some of them. Hopefully you will enjoy them as much as I do.
